Long before Big Data became the IT term du jour, Scott Hannon, Chief Information Officer at RealTime Medicare Data (RTMD), had mastered its value in the healthcare realm.
Hannon’s IT department loads more than 680 million Medicare records per year. It’s all in a day’s work at RTMD, a healthcare analytics organization that helps providers more effectively manage their Medicare patient populations.
Hannon’s platform of choice is HP’s Vertica system; it’s an integral part of the infrastructure that has positioned RTMD to align with hospital partners in a Medicare beneficiary area consisting of 17 states and the District of Columbia.
For his distinguished IT achievements at RTMD, Hannon was recognized in May of this year as one of sixteen recipients nationally to receive the Discover 2014 Awards of Excellence, sponsored by HP.
With more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, Hannon is responsible for overseeing and evaluating system security and for managing information, communications systems, and projects that include design.
“We are nimble when it comes to implementing new technologies relating to Big Data,” said Hannon. “Although we are a small company we have a good bit of knowledge about Big Data.”
Other winning categories included Application Development and Delivery, Business Service Management, and Service Portfolio Management.
